Distribution of Thromboxane A 2 Receptor mRNA along the Mouse Nephron Segments

Abstract:Thromboxane A 2 (TXA 2 ) receptor mRNA was semi-quantitated in microdissected mouse nephron segments by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). TXA 2 receptor mRNA was most abundantly expressed in the glomerulus, followed by the distal convoluted tubule > proximal tubule, thick ascending limb of Henle, and outer medullary collecting duct. These results suggest the potential physiological roles of TXA 2 in the entire renal tubule as well as in the glomerulus.
