Abstract:

Divided differences are operators acting on functions of several variables. We describe this action on the basis of modified powers (that is, x^k is replaced by (x - a₀)(x - a₁) sdot sdot sdot (x - a_{n - 1}). Special cases are of interest when a_i = qⁱ or a_i = i. Copyright 1999 Academic Press.
