Editorial processing: to outsource or not?

Abstract:In recent years, a number of publishers have successfully outsourced all or part of their editorial assistant function to a specialist company. This article examines the reasons why outsourcing the editorial assistant function might be of benefit to a journal and considers what should be looked for in a partner company and what can be expected from such a relationship.
