Abstract:
This paper focuses on the evolving role of secondary publishers within the changing models of web-assisted information provision. It concludes that the predicted demise of secondary publishing was premature. Instead, everybody is now delivering a service, not just a product and, despite the rhetoric of freeing the literature, even commercial web enterprises are moving towards the subscription model.Document Type: Research article
