Wheat genotype 3336 (Lok Bharti x DARF)showed high resistance against spot blotch pathogen (Drechslera sorokiniana)Scanning electron microscopy of leaf surface revealed presence of platelet like wax particles distributed all over the leaf epidermis but more condensed in the guard cells. Quantitative and qualitative analysis through GLC revealed presence of eight C-atom homologues in this genotype while three C-atom homologues were quantified in moderately resistant genotypes,Bobwhite and Parula.In susceptible genotypes,HD 2285 and WH 542 two and one C-atom homologue was detected while in most susceptible,Agralocal no C-atom homologue was obtained.Carbon atom homologues in 3336 ranged from C 20 -C 44 ,C 44 being in maximum quantity (75.510 ppm),while C 30 was obtained in minimum quantity (11.74 ppm).Germination of conidia of D.sorokiniana was maximum on susceptible Agralocal showing hypal penetration through stomata whearas conidial germination on 3336 was very low,and germ tubes showed papillate structures.
