Buckling Interaction in Regular Arrays of Rigidly Supported Composite Laminated Plates with Orthogrid, Isogrid, and Anisogrid Planform

The initial buckling strength of composite plate arrays with novel planform configurations are evaluated for combinations of uniform in‐plane compression and shear loading and are presented in the form of dimensionless buckling interaction curves, for direct comparison with isotropic panels of equal mass. Results illustrate the buckling strength sensitivity with respect to changes in the stacking sequence of symmetric, specially orthotropic angle‐ply composite laminates including the consideration of both cross‐symmetric and nonsymmetric cross ply subsequences. The effect of composite tailoring on the buckling strength of complex panel array configurations is shown to be non‐intuitive compared, for instance, to a compression loaded rectangular plate array.
