Abstract:

This paper presents the major results of the fabrication and testing of the prototype configurations of HLH and UTTAS composite blades. Specific emphasis will be made to the demonstrated damage tolerance and slow failure progression demonstrated by the full scale fiberglass structure. Further, the implications of the fabrication experience toward production, the development of this production assembly sequence and the definition of the techniques by which all composite materials will be automatically layed, will be presented.
