Note on the Reduction of Harmonic Vertical Hub Forces

A brief look at a portion of the results obtained in a rather extensive study of rotor vibratory characteristics reveals that it may be possible to alleviate harmonic vertical hub forces by passive means. A pronounced reduction in these vibratory forces could be realized, in present generation helicopters, by a judicious choice of torsional rigidity and chordwise mass balance.
