Main Rotor Blade Design and Development
The past and present status of metal extruded blades will be covered. This includes a discussion of some of the factors that have made interchangeable blades possible. Some of the trends in aerodynamic design parameters are shown. Of importance are the methods and test facilities employed
to obtain information to substantiate the service life of present blades and improve the structural design of future blades. In view of the great future of the helicopter and importance of the blade to the helicopter, emphasis is placed on the need for expanded test and research facilities.
