Abstract:

Oral isotretinoin is the first-line treatment option for severe nodular acne. If isotretinoin is contraindicated or poorly tolerated, combination therapy with an oral antibacterial, benzoyl peroxide and a topical retinoid is recommended. Other options include oral anti-androgens and corticosteroids.
