Affiliations: 1: Ms. Jacquelyn L. Fried is Associate Professor and Director of the Dental Hygiene Program in the Department of Health Promotion and Policy at the University of Maryland Dental School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and a Certificate in Dental Hygiene from the Ohio State University. She also holds a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene from Old Dominion University. She has been in dental hygiene education for almost thirty years. Ms. Fried is known internationally for her involvement in research, didactic and community activities related to tobacco. Recently she has initiated investigations into the technological aspects of teaching and learning. Ms. Fried is widely published and has authored numerous manuscripts and book chapters. She has been honored for her teaching abilities and is a recipient of The Warner Lambert (now Pfizer)/American Dental Hygienists' Association Award of Excellence.
