Academia Press is a fast growing, independent academic publishing house based in Gent (Belgium). A daughter company of bvba J. Story - Scientia Scientific Booksellers, Academia Press is a dedicated and dynamic participant within the academic and professional book market.

We are specialised in the publication of:

• High-quality academic research;
• Textbooks, which didactically translate research to students;
• Professional and informative publications, in which research is made accessible to specific professional target groups and or a wider public;
• Series and journals, in which research is valorised within a specialised academic community.

Academia Press was created at the end of the 1980s based upon the model of the American University Presses. Imbedded in bvba J. Story - Scientia Scientific Booksellers AP has grown to become a commercial enterprise. But it has remained faithful to its content mission which is to function as a gatekeeper, to support and stimulate scholarship and to serve the academic community. A member of the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP), AP invests in remaining up to date with and fully qualified with regard to the developments within the academic publishing world. We closely follow the issues, the trends and the relevant literature, we attend conferences and workshops, we frequent international fairs such as the London Book Fair and the Frankfurter Buchmesse.
