Abstract:This editorial proposes three things that physical education teacher education programs must do to produce quality teachers: (1) define the content needed for our teacher candidates to be successful in P-12 schools, (2) determine ways to assess whether this content was learned and where to set the bar for learning, and (3) give teacher candidates the tools they need to document student learning on performance-based assessments.
