Software Compatibility Information

Web Browsers

We recommend using the latest browser version available to your operating system. See your browser’s documentation to learn more about checking and updating your version:

  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

Your version of each of the above browsers depends on your device’s operating system.

All of these browsers have an auto-update feature available. If you do not have this enabled, please check that you are up to date before you test the website. We have found that some IT networks have this feature disabled and our clients sometimes discover that they are running outdated (and therefore unsupported) versions of the browser.

We stay on top of updates in the world of browsers and website design. Every so often, we update the list of browsers we support so that you know what to expect when working with us. The list is driven by trends in browser usage, and updates from the software developers themselves - if they no longer support a version of their software then we won’t either.

We focus on usability and accessibility rather than pixel perfect rendering across all available browsers.

Adobe Reader

Articles that are available for PDF download will require Adobe Reader. This is free to download from Adobe's website.

Although we aim to make all documents as accessible as possible, some newer PDFs may not be readable in older versions of Adobe Reader. We recommend that you upgrade to Adobe 8.0 or higher to ensure that all content is viewable.

PDFs are generated either by Ingenta Connect, or by the publisher, therefore the security settings in the PDFs may vary. If you require a more accessible PDF that can be used with software to assist the sight-impaired please contact customer service.
