Ingenta Connect Library Membership

Ingenta Library Membership - a service which will enable you and your patrons to get more out of Ingenta Connect and personalise the site for your own institution.

Regular Ingenta Connect features - browsing, access to OA and subscribed content, IP authentication, single sign on via Shibboleth and Open Athens and COUNTER4 reporting - will continue to be available FREE for library members and non-members alike, but Membership will offer a range of premium features for an affordable annual fee.

These include cost savings of 50% on advertising your institution's courses on Ingenta Connect, and savings on the digitisation and dissemination of your rare library archives - a new service due shortly.

Can I still access content without joining, and can I cancel at any time?

Not being a member does not prevent your access to content - either content to which you have subscriber rights, or pay-per-view content you may wish to purchase. Membership brings a range of benefits which will increase every month, but if you wish you can cancel at any time by cancelling your direct debit and informing us your membership will cease the month after you notify us of cancellation. You will no longer have branding on the Ingenta Connect site, nor will you have the use of Alerting or any other membership benefits.

What are the Terms and Conditions of membership?

The Terms of Service are available at http://www.ingentaconnect.com/about/libmemterms. By agreeing to membership you automatically agree to these terms.

Will I be able to use authentication via OpenAthens and Shibboleth?

Yes. Shibboleth and Open Athens are available to both Members and non-members. Currently only the UK Higher Education Federation is supported but we are extending membership to InCommon (USA) soon.

Will I be able to create SUSHI reports?

Yes, this feature will continue to be available as part of the COUNTER standard for members and non-members.

How can I access and configure SUSHI reports?

Administrators of institutional registrations are able to activate SUSHI reports for the registration from within the option for the COUNTER4 compliant usage reports on the Administrator's home page.

How do I set up branding on my Membership site?

Clicking on 'Configure library branding' from the administrator's home page allows the configuration of the branding options.

How do I set up Table of Contents Alerts?

Table of Contents Alerts are set up using personal registrations by selecting 'My profile' followed by 'New issue alerts'.

How do I set up Keyword Alerts?

To set up a keyword alert for terms of interest you need to sign in with a personal registration and first conduct a search for your chosen keyword(s). Then choose ‘My Profile’ and select “Search history”. Mark the check box beside the search you ran and select “as individual item” from the pull down menu and click on “Go”. This has now saved the search that you previously ran. Mark the check box beside your saved search and from the pull down menu choose “Create Alert” and then “Go”.

How can I set up RSS feeds for new issues?

Patrons at Member sites will see the option to enable RSS alerts for journal titles on the right of the respective journal homepages, under the Tools heading.

How can members work effectively with subscription agents?

Administrators can request their agent enable online access to subscribed material by selecting 'Set up subscriptions through your subscription agent' on the Administrator's home page and checking the boxes beside those agents they use, then selecting 'Request Activation'.

How do I compare usage between titles?

We use COUNTER statistics to drive comparison, as an overview by period of two titles. The results can be displayed online. The report is available under the Reporting link (Title Comparison Reports).

What kind of support is available?

An IM (instant messaging) facility is available to members for simple enquiries, as well as email with a guaranteed 24 hour response time for more complex issues regarding access and authentication.

Will other benefits be available in future?

We are working with our publishers and third parties, such as Kudos, to make additional cost-saving benefits available exclusively to members. Information about all these will be provided via our quarterly Librarian Newsletter and on your Administrator pages.

Will I have direct access to Google Scholar Subscriber Link settings?

Yes, this facility will be available shortly.

How can I export MARC XML records for my subscribed titles?

This is possible for Subscribed titles (Download Subscription List MARC). This feature will be available shortly.
